A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TOUR

A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TOUR by special request only

This niche tour is created for those who wish to connect with the spirituality of life in Ireland particularly in special places along the west coast where ancient pilgrimages were commonplace, built along the recognition of Ireland’s unofficial title of the land of Saints and Scholars. Helen introduces spirituality from the point of view of what spirituality means throughout the Dingle Peninsula.

Visits include hidden community connections such as a Holy Well, explaining the importance of them to local people and their healing powers. They had an important place in the local community. She will tell you about Ireland’s ancient people and the close relationship they had to the elements, the stars, sun, moon, etc. She will describe how life evolved, moving onwards to the coming of Christianity and the laying down of another layer over the spirituality that was already in the country. This introduces the elements of Celtic Spirituality, the Celtic Wheel, and how most of their prayers involved nature and the simple things of everyday lives. Examples of the importance of pilgrimage in past times can be found on the Dingle Peninsula through Cosán na Naomh with Mount Brandan featured.

Later on the tour, looking out on the Skellig Rocks and particularly, Skellig Michael, Helen will talk about the monks, white martyrdom and many more stories of pilgrim times. This special tour is completed with a visit to Cuas, the pier where St. Brandan the Navigator, set sail for America! This special tour captures the surrounding beauty, serenity and wildness of the landscape of Corca Dhuibhne (the Dingle Peninsula), its pristine rural and agricultural past, and nurturing nature itself, to replenish and rejuvenate our own souls too!
